Our Values
We love working with small, local businesses. We also give back, contribute to a greener more accessible world, and support the local economy. All while being a good place to work and always working to be better tomorrow than we were today.
Fiercely local.
We choose to work with small, local clients and to buy from local suppliers. As consumers, our team works to buy local products from small, local vendors whenever possible.
Digitally accessible.
We care about and prioritize digital accessibility. We work to design for everyone not just some. We choose accessible tools and applications and build accessibility into our services.
Giving back.
We support our communities by providing free services, donations, and free web hosting to non-profits and charities. We support important initiatives like Canon Beazley’s House of Doom, North End Community Health Centre’s Phones for the Holidays campaign, and 60 Sunflowers in support of Adsum for Women and Children.
Getting greener.
We are committed to measuring and reporting on our carbon footprint. Through smarter procurement, conscientious office practices, and a genuine commitment to ongoing learning we aim to be carbon neutral by the end of 2024.
10 Years of Boom12
After a decade of experience helping clients achieve their goals, Boom12 is continuing to grow too.
2013
In the spring of 2013, two friends came up with the crazy idea they should stay in Halifax and start a business. In June, Boom12 was born. There was another friend who tried to talk us out of it (now he’s a part of the team!)
2014
2014 was our first full year in business. We spent the year learning how to find work, get it in the queue, and get it out the door to a satisfied client.
2015-2016
By the end of 2014, one half of Boom12 had fallen in love and would soon be off to the other side of the world to live her best life. In January of 2015, Scott decided to carry on as a solopreneur and to chart the course on his own.
2017-2019
The impact of a unique combination of political experience and marketing experience, Boom12’s focus drifts to local politics working on campaigns at the local and provincial level while supporting the needs of elected representatives.
2020
The pandemic derailed ourplans and reinvigorated our entire raison d’etre. Like everyone we saw the suddenly urgent need to pivot to survive. So we pivoted to helping other local businesses do just that. Rewarded by success and on a mission to grow, we chart a new course.
2021-2023
On a mission to focus our work and our services on the things that matter in our communities, we begin to expand. Our team grew from one to six and our client roster grew along with it.
Backed with ten years experience and a growing team, the future looks bright.
Now
Partners for Progress
We believe in empowering communities to ignite positive change by providing free services, donations, free web hosting, and support for several special initiatives. Partners for Progress will invest over $30,000 in our communities this year.
60 Sunflowers
In support of Adsum for Women & Children
We were pleased to join Shoppers Drug Mart and National Bank in sponsoring Rod Wilson’s 60 Sunflowers concert event in support of Adsum for Women & Children in the fall of 2023. The event raised over $60,000 for this essential, exceptional local organization.
House of Doom
Canon Beazley's spooky FUNdraiser for the IWK
We are honoured to support the House of Doom on Lindenwood brought to you by the Canon Beazley, a young cancer survivor, and his family. Canon’s annual haunted house extraordinaire has raised almost $50,000 for the IWK.
Phones for the Holidays
North End Community Health Centre’s Phones for the Holidays campaign
For five years we have been helping collect used phones for M.O.S.H.. We organize the event by pulling together MLA offices and local businesses to bring the gift of safety to street-involved folx in HRM.
A progressive workplace.
If we’re sick we stay home. We observe Labour Day, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and Remembrance Day and we take 9 other holidays and a Christmas break. On our best weeks, we get off early on Friday. We hit up Westcliffe more than we should (and a few others, too!) We laugh our way through the workday. All because we want everyone to look forward to coming to work.
