Protect Québec kids

The Canadian Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation teamed up to raise awareness about the regulation of e-cigarette “juice” being undertaken by the Québec Ministry of Health.  We were happy to help them protect Québec kids.

They needed some help developing a custom, website and action centre to share key information with Québecers and to facilitate public engagement in favour of banning flavours.

Send a message to the minister.

We stepped up to design, develop, and launch a campaign website with an interactive action centre in a couple of weeks. The website was the centrepiece of  larger digital effort meant to raise awareness about the public consultation.

Our campaign landing page (en francais: Protegez Nos Jeunes and in English: Protect Québec Kids) included important information about the negative impacts of e-cigarettes and vaping on Québec youth and allowed visitors to customize and send a letter directly to the Québec Minister of Health and other stakeholders. People also had the option of signing up to learn more about the work of the Canadian Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

A ban is now in place to protect Québec kids

We rely on the work of activist and advocacy organizations to make progress on important social issues like this. It is important that non-profits are able to impact government decisions by raising awareness and facilitating citizen action. Sometimes they have to pull it off with very little time.

By acting quickly to get a digital campaign online, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation had a major impact on the debate. The available data combined with an effective campaign and consultation process showed public support for banning flavoured vaping products. The digital campaign helped ensure the Ministry of Health had public support to implement the ban which took effect on October 31, 2023.

In the end, the Province adopted much more strict rules to protect Québec kids. There will be fewer children accessing nicotine products as a result of this digital campaign and the exceptional, collaborative efforts of both the Canadian Cancer Society and Heart & Stroke.

We are proud to have played a small part in supporting their work and making change to protect Québec kids.
